A clear auto bra is one of the most effective ways of protecting the areas of your car that are most vulnerable to paint chips and other forms of damage. 3M premium paint protection film, in particular, is made of the highest quality and is the best option to consider.
The installation of this protective bra will help maintain your car’s beautiful and new appearance for several years. Once a 3M clear bra is applied to your car, it is recommended that you wait two weeks before going through a mechanical car wash so that the pressure of the water does not ruin your newly installed film. Hand washing is best and can be done three days after the installation. Generally, it takes up to four weeks for the clear film to cure, although this will depend on the temperature outside and warmer weather can speed up the process. Bubbles, haze and condensation are all normal during the curing stage because the film has not yet settled and these will all evaporate eventually through the film as it cures over time.
Caring for your 3M clear bra is very important and doing it properly will ensure the film remains effective. The following steps will help you with this process:
Rinsing the Film
Always start at the top of your vehicle and work your way to the bottom. A regular water hose can help you with this task, although a power washer can be used as well if you prefer. The nozzle must be kept at least 36 inches away from the film’s surface and edges.
Washing the Film
This is another important step in the maintenance process and it is recommended that you use a liquid-based soap and wash mitt. Wipe the film in a straight motion and start from the top of your car and work your way down. Wipe away from the edges of the film and do not use excessive force or rubbing or abrasive sponges, as these can damage the bra. While high-quality bras are durable, incorrect washing techniques can damage them, so you need to be careful.
Drying the Film
Use a microfibre drying towel and make sure it is slightly damp. Wipe in a straight line motion and keep away from the edges as you dry the bra.
Adding Wax
The bra must be completely dry to complete this step and your surface will require the application of wax, which is a one layer coating that helps optimize the bra’s water sheeting and beading abilities. A non-abrasive wax should be used for this task.
